About us

The Kasiska Division of Health Sciences is Idaho's destination site for health professions education, with over 40 programs in these high-demand fields. Since the late 1980s, the Kasiska Family Foundation has donated $18 million to ISU and pledged additional support, bringing the total gift to over $20 million. The money has funded scholarships, health science programs, equipment, special events and conferences.

  • Congratulations to Dr. Ratka!

    Congratulations to Dr. Anna Ratka '00, the Professional Achievement Award recipient from the Idaho State University College of Pharmacy, with a PharmD! 🐅🧡🥇 Dr. Ratka earned her Masters of Science degree in 1981 and her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1985 from Poznań University of Medical Sciences in Pharmacy, Poznań, Poland. After working for 11 as a pharmacy faculty at ISU, she was hired by the University of North Texas Health Science Center as a founding Director of Clinical Research at Institute for Aging and Alzheimer’s disease Research. Her next position was as a founding chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Texas A&M University. She participated in the development of curriculum and infrastructure of a new Doctor of Pharmacy program earning full accreditation. From Texas, Dr. Ratka moved to Chicago State University to serve as chair of Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and then as interim Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. In her current institution, St. John Fisher University, she worked for 4.5 years as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and then as a professor at Wegmans School of Pharmacy. Currently, Dr. Ratka is actively involved in service to American Pharmacists Association, American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, the Pharmacy Society of the State of New York, and the Polish American Pharmacists Association. In 2020, she was invited by the Polish Supreme Pharmaceutical Chamber to join an expert team charged with the development of standards of pharmaceutical care practice and education in Poland. Dr. Ratka has received numerous awards and honors from her peers and students for her accomplishments in teaching, research, and service. In 2019, the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education named her an outstanding peer reviewer. She was selected as a 2022 Fellow of the American Pharmacists Association for her contributions to the pharmacy profession.

    Congratulations to Lisa Moravec '11, the Professional Achievement Award recipient from the Idaho State University Kasiska Division of Health Sciences with a degree in Dental Hygiene! 🐅🧡🥇 Lisa Moravec, RDH, MSDH, PHRDH of Scottsbluff Nebraska is an Associate Professor and Site Coordinator for the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Dentistry West Division Dental Hygiene Program in Gering, Nebraska. Lisa graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Dentistry in 2002, and her Master of Science in Dental Hygiene from Idaho State University in 2011. She has been a dental hygiene educator for 19 years, has several articles and one textbook chapter published. She teaches didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses as well as is involved in Interprofessional education and was the primary investigator on a recent research grant involving medical-dental integration during pediatric well child visits. Lisa had the honor of serving her professional association as the 2020-2021 President of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) and as the Chair of the ADHA Institute for Oral Health in 2021-2022. Lisa has been recognized for her contributions with several prestigious awards, including being chosen by her peers as component and constituent ‘Dental Hygienist of the Year’ in Nebraska, numerous faculty recognition awards selected by her students, the 2021 Nebraska Dental Hygienists' Association Lifetime Achievement Award, and her induction into Sigma Phi Alpha- Dental Hygiene Honor Society. Lisa gives generously her time and talents for many community service projects, instills in others the commitment to be lifelong learners, and to seize opportunities to serve as she empowers her students and colleagues to be future leaders for the dental hygiene profession.
